Luís Machado completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Civil Engineering – Structures Profile, from the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2013, the same year he began his professional career as a Structural Engineer at a leading company in the precast concrete sector, where he became head of the Technical Department. During his time at this company, he contributed to the construction of several industrial warehouses throughout Portugal and also to the production of some special and exclusive prefabricated reinforced concrete parts. Examples include the 2017 expansion of The Navigator company's manufacturing unit in Vila Velha de Rodão and the exclusive white concrete pieces applied to the back of the main stage of the Sanctuary of Fátima in 2016, designed by visual artist Fernanda Fragateiro.

In 2020, he embarked on another professional challenge, involving himself in the remodeling of apartments, houses, and commercial spaces. In 2022, he wanted to expand his professional experience to the construction of buildings. During these journeys, he left many families and investors satisfied with his work, gaining prominence as a professional in the field.

In early 2025, he and his partner, interior designer Sónia Martinez, decided to establish Martinez Machado – Engenharia, Construção e Design, Lda, working in the fields he had become increasingly passionate about. Based on principles of integrity and professionalism, his main goal is now to create spaces tailored to each client's taste, with close and personalized support for every decision. This is based on space optimization, fluidity criteria, and feng shui, combined with the technical know-how in Engineering, Civil Construction, and Architecture acquired over more than 10 years of experience.

I'm Sónia Martinez, a mother, partner, interior designer, yoga instructor, and lifelong learner with a curiosity for life. I'm studying Management and Psychology at the Classical University of Lisbon, but I don't intend to pursue a career in business. For 20 years, I worked for large companies in the sector, responsible for projects that involved team leadership skills, decision-making, business management, and meeting deadlines and objectives.

A lifetime of understanding the needs of organizations, their employees, suppliers, and customers, and making empathy, assertiveness, focus on objectives, and creativity the best allies. It was after a personal need to remodel an apartment that I realized that interior design was a passion: meticulous consideration of every detail of every room in the house, choosing each positioning for functionality, ergonomics, and lighting.

And then there are the colors of the materials, the combination of textures—a whole universe of possibilities for creating a home that makes me feel happy when I come home at the end of the day because it has my favorite colors, or because my favorite painting greets me as soon as I enter. And I wanted to know how to do it, and I became certified as an Interior Designer. And on the path to bringing Joy and Well-Being into each day, I encountered Feng Shui, an ancient technique for spatial organization, which helps the vital energy of the air we breathe and that enters our homes flow as harmoniously as possible. Once again, through personal experience, I surrendered, fell in love, and went on to study.

In 2025, with my partner Luís Machado, we combined my experience in business management and interior design with his engineering skills, creating Martinez Machado – Engineering, Construction and Design with the mission of creating spaces that help people feel good and be happy.
